PADI IDC Facilities in Sabah, Borneo

The PADI IDC Course Asia takes place at Downbelow Marine & Wildlife Adventures’ PADI IDC Facility in Sabah, Borneo.

The PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre on Gaya Island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park off Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is the only one of its kind in Borneo.

At this PADI IDC facility the equipment is maintained to the manufacturer’s specifications and safety and procedures are taken seriously.

Our staff are highly trained and well experienced, because our popular dive centre is always busy with customers diving every day.

The PADI IDC facility in Borneo is located on the beach, in a marine park on a protected part of Gaya Island, just 10 minutes by boat from Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, Malaysia.

Jetty & Shore Dives

In front of the PADI IDC facility is a stunning shallow lagoon, which is where confined water training is conducted, while just a giant stride from our jetty is our house reef, affectionally known as Home Corner.

Sloping to a maximum depth of 20m, we have a few hidden treasures among the usual tropical marine life living within this ecosystem, and all other dive sites within the TAR Park are within a few minutes from our PADI IDC facilities, allowing us to comfortably conduct 3 boat dives per day.

The Right Tools for the Job

Our PADI IDC facility is equipped for the right tools for the job. Our dive boats provide spacious, comfortable transportation to dive sites, with powerful outboard engines, putting even new sites off the beaten track within easy reach.

Our equipment room stocks a variety of rental gear of different shapes & sizes, and in keeping with our high standards of safety, we ensure they are professionally maintained and serviced.

City-based Diving

Yet, the proximity to the city means that while you’re doing your IDC Course Asia, or indeed one of our GoPro Internships, you can balance hard work with a variety of good food, a night out and various adventures, all within easy reach of the PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre.
