Local Interns to Become Divemasters in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Victor and Jerry are two Sabahans who recently joined Downbelow’s very successful local internship program.

Local divemaster interns Jerry and Victory with PADI Course Director Ricahrd (behind the computer)The internship program gives Sabahans the opportunity to become scuba diving professionals through a year long training regime that takes them from knowing nothing about diving, to scuba diving pros.

Under the guidance of resident PADI Course Director Richard and his Go Pro Team, and local and international divemasters, dive instructors and IDC staff instructors, the local interns get to know the diving industry from the inside out.

Victor and Jerry both just took the first step towards becoming professional scuba divers; they both passed their PADI Open Water courses at our PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre on Gaya Island in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

As a little bonus motivation, they spotted a blacktrip reef shark on their last dive. A good omen of things to come.

Over the next year, the duration of their internship, they still have much to learn. But the reward of a professional diving career makes it all worthwhile.
