The city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Borneo is located next to the warm South China Sea and with the beautiful attraction just around the corner, it is understandable that many adventurous local Sabahans would want to work with these attractions that tourists are flying thousands of miles just to see them up close.

However many find their opportunities limited or even rejected because of financial difficulties or lack of experience especially those who wants to work in the diving industry. Going diving just to get the experience is not something that anyone can do everyday.

This is where Dive Downbelow fills the gap. We run a year-long “Work for a Career” program where we accept local trainees to work and learn at the same time. Our trainees might have zero experience at the start but 12 months on, they will become a confident diver who can plan, organize and lead diving trips, among other aspects of being a PADI Divemaster.

Based at our busy PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre on Gaya Island, our trainees will be mentored by our fully qualified and experienced Go Pro team, led by PADI Platinum Course Director Richard Swann.

The photo above shows our trainee busy preparing the tanks to be used by our guests for the day. The work (and exercise!) that they put in today will be beneficial to them in the future.
