Sabah Divemaster Interns Try Their Hand at Mapping

Three of the current Divemaster interns at our PADI IDC Dive Centre on Gaya island have been keeping busy with all sorts of projects. Their latest was a mapping exercise.

Armed with measuring type, underwater markers and info sheets, the 3 took to the water with Downbelow’s PADI IDC Staff Instructor Paul leading the way.

Their missions was to accurately record and map data for a specific area so as to be able to navigate that area in future.

“We’re going to have some interesting maps to review,” said Downbelow’s resident PADI Course Director Richard Swann who overseas all the training at the Downbelow dive centre.

There are various interns on the island at the moment, some of whom are working towards Divemaster, a few who have already completed their Dive Instructor course and are staying behind to gain experience, an a few who have arrived early for our next IDC.

Our next PADI Instructor Development Course takes place in November and runs from 8 – 19 November with the Instructor Exam immediately after.
