More Group Experience for Pro Diving Interns in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

The group from the Sandakan Politeknik peppered with Downbelow's staff in professional interns

The fantastic bunch of students from the Sandakan Politeknik returned once more to Downbelow’s PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre on Gaya island in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

This time around the Sandakan Politeknik group included 26 students who all signed up for the Discover Scuba Diving program, which presented a great opportunity for our professional scuba diving interns to jump in and get some vital group experience.

Ensuring safety with groups require a whole different approach. Downbelow frequently facilitate groups and are able to offer interns ample opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge for running successful group programs.

The group, usually students studying Tourism Management, visits Downbelow often as part of their course to learn more about Sabah’s oceans deep.

Downbelow loves to oblige. “We host many groups,” explained Downbelow’s MD and resident PADI Course Director Richard Swann, “but we are particularly fond of these enthusiastic students.”

Needless to say, students, Downbelow and our interns had a great time while they were on the island and got acquainted with the underwater world through the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program.

Richard also presented the AWARE Coral Reef Conservation program to them. After all, said Richard, “they are the future of the industry.”
